A funny story...yet true..

We were waiting eagerly for the bell to ring in the school just like a boxer who wishes the bell would ring. The kannada(which is an Indian language) teacher noticed that nobody was paying attention as we were bored.

As she was teaching us some lesson, she paused all of a sudden. She said aloud ''Ok! It's been 2 periods since I have been teaching you people. Let's take a break.'' and everyone sprang up when they heard the word 'break' ''

''Do you guys know why India isn't developing at a faster rate? I mean look at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They got bombed and yet they have developed at a faster rate than us.''

We students thought it was another shitty global issue and our faces turned pale.

''There's a story which I want to tell you.'' as she said we sprang up in our seats again.

''Once U.S, Japan, England and many other countries decided to participate in an 'ant race'. India participated too.
The race begun and U.S ants came first, English ants came 2nd and Chinese ants came 3rd and the other countries ants reached to the finish point at last.

But the astonishing thing was Indian ants were still at the starting point.
Do you know why? The reason was as one ant tried to reach the finish point, the ant's companion took hold of it's leg and pulled it back and the same cycle was continuing. You know the problem by now.

In India, there's too much of competition among ourselves and one can't stand the sight of the other one reaching the finishing point or goal. There's too much of politics which doesn't encourage one to achieve a goal.''
All the kids in my class laughed. It is true.

Maybe this is another reason why we Indians don't win medals like other countries do in Olympics.

  7. well, its a good thought, but rahul do you know our country has almost grown by 9% this fiscal?
a major reason why we're not growing is becausepeople aren't aware of the growth we're actually having. we're about to be permanent members of the security councel, the worldbank calls us the 2nd fastest growing economy, we're a nuclear power now, our country's employment scheme has beneffited 69 crore people this year, corruption would cut down now thanks to anna hazare, we're doing very well in sports (world cup cricket, azlan shah cup hockey, 2nd highest medal tallerin commonwealth and 3 medals at olympics).
you can't say we aren't growing man. its been slow yes...but we need to stop criticizing our country and believing in its growth, 'cos unless the people KNOW what we're achieving we'll continue to believe that we're losers....even though we're not. so read, learn and then write. its a good thoght but can it be entirely applied to india NOW? i'm not sure... parts of it can sure be applied. we should try and develop a sense of unity and not pull "each otrher down". thats there... and also try and compete with the biggest nations.

  8. @Ishan khanna: I didnt kno tat..Well yea it is improving..but the thing I wrote is one of the problems it has//... What you've written ''we should try and develop a sense of unity and not pull "each otrher down" is the exact thing what i am talking about....

  10. True re. No one ever stands other person going up.! Esp. Politicians.. And to our bad luck our whole nation lies in their hands.

Just imagine sports day in your school. Running race competition. In there we only look for fun. Prize wagera is a 2nd priority.

If your friend is in the finish line u wont pull him so that u can go first na. You will be happy that they won. Atleast some1 won.!

I wish people would start using this for nation too. Who wins doesnt matter cause its always the country that wins. Its our nation that gets the glory. And lastly everyone would be a winner as we all live here. Together.!

    BTW NICE POST :).
