The Ability to forget and remember.

Forgetting can be very essential, for it is both difficult and easy.
How can forgetting be essential? A question that pops up in your mind.
Yes, It can be very essential. Think, If you could forget all the unwanted data in your brain and collect fresh information which will be of use to you.

The ability to forget is hard, but you will forget something in a course of time though the core plot remains in your head.

And if you do forget something easily, it means that you didn't stress upon that or concentrate enough. You forget what is not important to you easily enough.

I confess that it sounds absurd once you hear it. As though it's some another ridiculous topic of mine. It isn't but the topic is up to the point.

Our mind is like a well of memories. Once the water's dried up, a memory of yours is forgotten. So, fill it up with knowledge which will help you in your course of life so that you can drop the bucket tied with a rope in the well and bring it up with source which would help you in certain situations.

I would like to add that being miser about your mind, as in ''I don't want to watch the movie, it'll make up space in my attic of mind'' isn't good.

We are human beings and we need a break. But gathering too information which is meaningless to you is just preposterous.

Well, You can't call me ironic since I want to be a writer and this is what I love to do.

This idea was sought from one of my favorite literary books which is Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes, for in the first book- 'study in scarlet' there comes a time when Dr. Watson looks for a companion to share the rent of a room and meets Holmes.

As they were conversing in their baker street rooms one day, to Watson's surprise- Holmes never knew about the solar system until Watson told all about it.

Holmes replied ''Now that I do know it I shall do my best to forget it.''

''You see'', he explained, ''I consider that a man's brain originally is like an empty attic, and you have to stock it with such furniture as you choose. A fool takes in all the lumber of every sort that he comes across, so that the knowledge that might be useful to him gets crowded out, or at best is jumbled up with a lot of other things so that he has a difficulty in laying his hands upon it. Now the skilful workman is very careful indeed as to what he takes into the brain-attic. He will have nothing but the tools which may help him in doing his work, but of these he has a large assortment, and all in the most perfect order. It is a mistake to think that that little room has elastic walls and can distend to any extent. Depend upon it there comes a time when for every addition of knowledge you forget something that you knew before. It is of the highest importance, therefore, not to have useless facts elbowing out the useful ones."

Though Holmes is up to his extreme at this mindset, it would be good to just keep the idea in mind.

So, I place a challenge in front of you. Try forgetting this post!
Good luck with that.
